Looking For Some New Reading Material?

We interrupt this regularly scheduled installment on leadership principles to bring you some interesting new news. I'm a believer in bringing you, my readers, the best content I can whether I've generated it or not. In that spirit, I've come across something pretty cool in my social media stumbling...

Chuck Westbrook is on a mission. There’s a ton of great blogs out there, with amazing content, but no one is reading. So Chuck has decided to remedy this problem.

How?

Here’s what Chuck said:

Gather some nice bloggers who believe in helping good content rise. The more the merrier. This becomes our group for the project. A good, lesser-known blog is chosen. Everyone in the group will read that blog for two weeks. At the end of the two weeks, the group moves to another blog to read.

So I’m going to be reading. And you can too! Get all the details here.

Interesting concept, promoting other blogs but aren't you afraid of losing your following? Is the risk offset because you may gain new readers from other blogs? I'll give it a try, but don't expect to find the same quality of content as you have here.

@Joe - I think you answered your own question. So here's the thought process: I'm at risk of losing my following every day - if we don't continue to crank out high quality content, people will leave (I had one person unsubscribe just this morning). I'm flattered by your "don't expect to find the same quality of content" comment. And that's exactly why I'm willing to put myself "at risk" - I think our content is solid and people will keep coming back because of its quality.

I am always looking to attract new readers (by the way, have you shared the blog with your friends? I love recommendations of our work). This looks like a good opportunity to do so (especially if our content is more solid than other stuff that's out there).

One last point - I see it as my obligation and commitment to bring you folks good content whether I generate it or someone else does (witness the guest bloggers I bring to the table). If I can be that "aggregator" of good content (either by hosting it on our blog or directing you to other places to check out while still providing great content ourselves) won't that keep folks coming back and attract others?

I guess I'll see how it goes...
